It's been a while since I last saw you,
touched your face and heard your laugh
or sat in a dinky seat while we sewed some seed.
It's been a while since we last spoke
about anything and everything and even the small things,
or about a new adventure that would take us high in the sky.
It's been a while since we danced
at a party, a celebration or just in the living room
after one or five gins... I never counted, nor did you.
It's been a while since I rode shotgun
while you took the wheel and I opened gates
or sat in the right seat of your pride and joy at 2,000 feet.
It's been a while since we had a cup of tea
with a homemade biscuit and a good yarn
full of plans for the day ahead.
It's been a while since our feet hit the ground
together, side by side.... there was never a dull moment
when you were around.
It's been a while and far too long since you left me to tackle this world on my own.
It's been a while since our last goodbye, goodnight and hello.
It's been a while since everything...
If you have a person let them know, don't wait until another day passes.
Tell them you love them, have that cup of tea, a yarn and dance in your living room
like it's your last chance.
Live with no regrets because one day it could have 'been a while'.
